Following a Halloween theme, NetEnt have provided players with a great take on the holiday with their Halloween Jack slot game.
Our Halloween Jack game review will provide players with everything they need to know to ensure they are able to pick up the best rewards possible and be aware of any spooky surprises that the industry-leading developer may have implemented.
Gameplay
NetEnt’s Halloween Jack slot game provides players with a rather spooky playing grid that consists of five reels, three rows and 20 fixed paylines in which they can try and form a number of combinations to win some great prizes.
Spinners can either look to play the Halloween Jack Free Play version that is available at the top of this game review, or they can use real money with just €0.20 needed per turn to try and win some cash rewards. Wagers can be placed as high as €100 for those that have the ability to take bigger risks.
Although the game might bring the fright factor to the forefront, NetEnt have kept things rather standard when it comes to the customisable options available to players in regards to the customisable features available. These include the ‘Max Bet’ and the ‘Autoplay’ buttons that can be found in many of the developer’s other slot game titles.
Halloween Jack features 10 different pay icons that players can look to form winning combinations with and these come in two different value categories. The low-payers include the traditional playing card icons that NetEnt continue to use for many of their games, with the 10s, Js, Qs, Ks and As all available.
The more-rewarding icons, though, include the horseshoe, the raven, the bat, the horse and the female vampire. The Halloween Jack slot game Wild is the carved pumpkin and this has the power to substitute all icons except for the lanterns and the Scatters. However, this icon can only appear on reels two, three, four and five. When used as part of a winning combination, the rewards will be multiplied by 3x and will appear as different shapes in the free spins bonus feature – which is described below.
The game’s Scatter comes in the shape of a treasure chest and three of these are needed to trigger the free spins feature. The lanterns can only appear on reel five in this feature, though.
Feature Bonuses
As mentioned, one of the Halloween Jack bonuses available is via the Wild. The carved pumpkin will multiply any wins it forms by 3x and will appear on reels two, three and four during the respin or free spins feature. The Wild will then shift by one reel to the left until it disappears, thus making it a ‘Walking Wild’. A respin is awarded when it appears on the reels and will end when they disappear.
In addition, these icons have a big impact on the free spins round, as they will increase to two and three-high stacks and also transform into an expanding Wild.
The free spins round – otherwise known as the ‘Jack ‘O’ Lector Free Spins’ round – will provide players with 10 free spins when triggered by three or more Scatters that appear. If three or more appear during the feature on one spin, an additional five free spins will be awarded. The ‘Walking Wild’ can also be activated in this bonus.
A lantern that appears on reel five will help to unlock the three special Wilds that are available. The bonus round will start with the standard ‘Walking Wilds’. After three lanterns have been collected, players will unlock the double stacked ‘Hell Hound’ Wilds, whilst a further three lanterns will unlock the triple stacked ‘Jack-O’-Lantern’ Wilds. When nine have been collected, the ‘Death Reaper’ Wild will be activated, which has the ability to expand. All of these can walk across the reels.
