NetEnt have provided players with the chance to follow the popular Planet of the Apes movie trilogy with their branded slot game of the same theme.

Having taken inspiration from the hit movie franchise, the developer has produced a truly exciting adventure that bettors can look to take the most of, with a number of great bonus features being found as we did our Planet of the Apes slot game review.

Gameplay

This Planet of the Apes slot game provides what could be described as two slot games in one! There are different grids of five reels available, each with three positions in which the game’s icons can appear. In addition, there are 20 paylines available.

The two grids – Rise and Dawn – work independently of each other and both award their own rewards when a winning combination is formed. This game can be tested by the Planet of the Apes free play version above or can be played for as little as €0.20 per spin. Players who wish to up the stakes a little further can, as bets can be placed as high as €200 per turn. Bets can be adjusted at the bottom of the game screen, whilst ‘Autoplay’ and ‘Max Bet’ functions are also available.

The game’s paytable features a number of different icons that each range in values. The low-value icons are represented by the traditional royal playing card numbers (10, J, Q, K and A), whilst these are followed by the human characters that have appeared in the films. The apes that appear, though, are worth the biggest rewards, as they pay out a reward of 600x the bet when 5 of them appear across a payline!

Feature Bonuses

The appearance of Wilds and Scatters in slot games will generally mean that some special features will be available and it is no different with NetEnt’s Planet of the Apes slot game.

The Wild has the ability to substitute for all of the icons on the paytable to help form a winning combination where possible, whilst it can also appear as a Stacked icon. If this happens, the Wild will cover each position on the reel on both grids, but it needs to appear on the ‘Rise’ grid initially.

The Scatter will see a prize instantly activated when three or more appear on the reels in any position, but they also have the ability to trigger the Free Spins feature available in this video slot.

If three or more appear on the ‘Rise’ grid, players will receive 10 free spins and a tally of how many Wilds appear will be kept until the final spin in which that number of Wilds will then appear.

If the Scatters appear on the ‘Dawn’ side, then 15 free spins will be awarded at the start and three special icons will be available to collect which provide players the chance to either increase the multiplier, earn more free spins or be provided with more Wilds on the reels.

This Planet of the Apes slot game also features two additional bonus symbols that provide players with rewards. These icons represent the two latest movies to have been produced in the hit franchise. The ‘Rise’ bonus will see a bonus won each time an ape and a human appear on the reels, whilst the ‘Dawn’ bonus will see the aforementioned icons turn into the same icon to try and potentially boost the wins awarded.

The final bonus feature we found in this Planet of the Apes review is the ‘Dual Feature’ and this can be activated randomly. When triggered, one icon will be chosen from each grid to remain locked or transferred to the other grid, thus providing the chance for some big prizes.

RTP (return to player)

This NetEnt slot game has a return to player (RTP) rate of 96.33%, which can be considered rather standard as the Planet of the Apes slot game features a medium volatility level.
